"... that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph!" (2 Thessalonians 3:1)

Catholic Bible Institute

Founded in Mumbai in 1979, the Catholic Bible Institute functions as an independent Public Trust in the archdiocese of Bombay. Every year, we offer in English, one- and two-month residential courses teaching the Catholic interpretation of every book of the Old and New Testaments, a 9-month non-residential certificate course on biblical theology, and some weekend Bible Seminars and Retreats (also in Konkani and Hindi). Over 800 lay students from the world and from every part of India have benefited from these classes, and many are now rendering excellent service to the Church in their respective areas, sharing God's word in parishes, Small Christian Communities, prayer groups, and wherever Jesus calls...

The CBI is an associate member of the worldwide Catholic Biblical Federation (CBF), and served on its Executive Committee for a term of six years (2002-2008). Its programs draw their inspiration from the teachings of the Second Vatican Council's Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum) and other connected teachings.

We publish a full-color, free, pastoral biblical magazine, BIBLE AGLOW, to teach people the Catholic interpretation of the Scriptures, in tune with Vatican II's Dei Verbum. Printed bimonthly, and circulated nationally and inter-nationally, interested persons must pay only the postage charges.
