It was a historical day for the Church of Transfiguration, East of Kailash, New Delhi when the parishioners together with devotees of ISKON temple witnessed their Gurus singing on the same platform for Peace and Harmony on 29th June, 2008.
It was due to the great effort by Fr. Stanley, the Parish Priest of this Church these two groups came together for a purpose though the ISKON temple and the Church of Transfiguration existed on the same road for years.
Fr. Norbert SVD, a renowned singer and musician who is the PRO and the Registrar of National Institute of Social communications and research and Training, kept the audience spellbound with his melodious voice. The little drizzling was considered like blessings from above. Fr. Jas, the Parish Priest of Defense colony and an expert in playing Tabla accompanied Fr. Norbert in this concert. |
The great Gurus of ISKON temple Radhadas and Krishna joined in the concert with various melodious chants. The blend of Christian chants with bhajans, Gazals, patriotic and children songs boosted the audience. Many people from different faiths not only witnessed the event but also joined wholeheartedly by reciting the chants with the singers. Many expressed that such steps are encouraging people to come together and such programmes should be held more often.CBCI spokesperson Fr,Babu Joseph felicitated the artists of ISKCON temple with a religious gift - Rosary.
